Vice President, Public Affairs & Health Policy Managing Director, Digital Strategy
Courtney Gray Haupt brings extensive experience in government relations and advocacy focused on the health care and biomedical research sectors to Spectrum's public affairs practice. With a strong background in health policy and political affairs, Courtney specializes in legislative and regulatory initiatives and has directed a wide range of strategic positioning and communications campaigns for nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, trade associations, global corporations and professional societies.
Prior to joining Spectrum, Courtney served as Vice President, Government Affairs and Communications, for Washington Health Advocates, a health care government relations firm. Her portfolio included grassroots advocacy, coalition building and federal appropriations strategies for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
As Vice President, External Relations, for the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO), Courtney led ACRO's strategic communications team, overseeing the association's public relations, crisis management and alliance development activities. Directing ACRO's policy initiatives, Courtney developed a depth of experience working with U.S. policymakers as well as international governing bodies including the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency and the Chinese Ministry of Health.
Courtney has worked with organizations including the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network and the American Federation for Medical Research. She has managed successful efforts to expand asthma and allergic disease funding and awareness, to increase federal support for biomedical research and to improve public understanding of the clinical trial process. She has been a featured presenter on topics including Congressional health care initiatives, the drug development pipeline and initiatives to enhance clinical research participation.
Courtney serves on the Board of Advisors of the Center for Study and Information on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) and is a member of Women in Government Relations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD.
