Concert for Life

In a continuing effort to advocate for the HIV/AIDS community, Spectrum provided pro-bono support to the 14th Annual Concert for Life, a fundraiser benefiting HIV/AIDS organizations in Washington, DC, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The concert took place November 10th and featured the Foundry Choir and folk legend Noel Paul Stookey. This year’s event raised more than $55,000 which was distributed to the Whitman-Walker Clinic, Metro TeenAIDS, Project CHAMP of the Children’s National Medical Center, Prevention Works, Quality of Life Retreats, the Africa University HIV/AIDS Program, Family AIDS Support Organisation, Little Angels, and The Havens – A Tumelong Organization. Since its inception fourteen years ago, the concert has raised more than $600,000.

Spectrum team members helped in the concert planning, promotions, HIV/AIDS education for concert attendees and even participated in the performance. As a result of our outreach, the event was mentioned on the local NBC and Fox morning news programs, and was listed in the print and online versions of The Washington Post “Sunday Source” and “Weekend” sections, as well as The Washington Blade. We also sought non-traditional means of promoting the fundraiser by posting the event details on online community calendars and social networking Web sites.

"Thanks once again for all that you have done to help make the Concert for Life a success. I especially want to thank you for the professional assistance with publicity that we received from Spectrum Science."

-PJ Taylor, Concert for Life Committee Chair
