Job Description: I manage public relations initiatives for several clients at Spectrum, specializing in strategic planning, advocacy relations, media relations and multi-media asset production.
Why Spectrum? First, the people. They are super smart, team oriented and truly committed to delivering the best results for our clients. They’re a lot of fun, too! Second, the caliber of clients and projects we get to work on is top-notch.
Why health and science only? Translating important and sometimes extremely complicated medical and scientific information into something that resonates with and helps different audiences is at the heart of what we do. From patients to professionals to the media, I think arming someone with the right information can help them make informed decisions, point them in the right direction to learn more and spark essential and dynamic conversations. This is why I love health and science PR – it can really make a difference in people’s lives.
Previous work: Before joining Spectrum, I worked on communication efforts at the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center in Minneapolis.
Favorite Spectrum project: I’ve been at Spectrum a long time, so there are many! One that sticks out is our project to increase awareness of the great research and patient care occurring at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our work has resulted in numerous media placements for their researchers and has helped increase their reputation among professionals.
Where we’ll find you when not at work: Most likely at an Orioles game, exploring the museums and monuments in DC or shopping in Georgetown.
Mentors: Spectrum’s leadership team. They’ve taught me so much about communications, work ethic and how to be a great PR pro.
Favorite book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
What’s on your playlist? Country music, movie soundtracks and a lot of top 40′s
