Mary Ann Chaffee
offers more than 20 years experience in public policy, spanning both
houses of Congress and the executive branch. She oversees Spectrum's
public affairs and health policy division, where she designs and
manages initiatives to influence local, state, and federal health
care policy.
Mary Ann began her career in Washington as a
Presidential Fellow in the White House Office of Management and
Budget. She later served as a senior policy advisor at the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services where she worked on policy
issues ranging from Medicare drug utilization review to infant
mortality prevention. During her time on Capitol Hill, she worked as
senior committee staff on the House Budget Committee and later as
health policy advisor and legislative director in the Senate. Her
portfolio included appropriations and legislation related to
Medicaid, Medicare, health services delivery, childhood immunization,
and global health crises. She helped
design a funding initiative to eradicate global polio, which resulted
in the implementation of a CDC and World Health Organization program
that has eliminated polio in all but four countries.
Prior to
joining Spectrum, Mary Ann spent three years as Vice President at the
Glover Park Group, where she advised companies, organizations,
coalitions and issue campaigns on policy and integrated
communications strategies. She has graduate degrees from Case Western
Reserve University and Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School
of Government. She serves on the Sabin Vaccine Institute's Board of
Trustees and the Center for Infectious Disease Research's Board of
Advisors.
