Educating the Public About Cancer Clinical Trials
Tour of Hope™
To help drive awareness of cancer clinical trials Spectrum developed and managed the Tour of Hope™ on behalf of Bristol-Myers Squibb. The tour was a weeklong bike journey across the United States, featuring three-time Tour de France champion and cancer survivor Lance Amstrong, that inspired Americans to learn more about the promise of cancer research.
Spectrum was involved in many elements of the multi-year program, including the team application and selection process, cancer community outreach, Web site development (www.tourofhope.org),national and local media outreach, press materials development and local event planning.
The Tour’s impact is evidenced by the millions of Web site visitors and 281 million media impressions. It received media coverage in all top 50 media markets, and was featured in national programs and outlets such as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, “The Today Show,” and “Ellen.”
