AD/HD Public Education Campaign
Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)
Daily life can be a challenge for children and adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD). To combat myths and misperceptions about AD/HD, Spectrum works with Children and
Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) on its national campaign, Just A.S.K.— AD/HD Science. Knowledge. With Spectrum’s help, CHADD joined forces with the Congressional Black Caucus to host an education briefing on AD/HD in African Americans.
Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher spoke via a video address to a standing room-only crowd. Spectrum publicized the event in policy media, including Congressional Quarterly and Roll Call, and secured interviews with National Public Radio, USA Today, Voice of America, Essence magazine and U.S. News & World Report, which resulted in a six-page cover story on adult AD/HD, reaching more than two million people. To push the message further, Spectrum booked a national radio media tour and produced a radio news release that garnered an estimated 11 million media impressions.
