Communicating the Faces of Multiple Sclerosis

Biogen Idec

Everyday tasks can become increasingly difficult for people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Spectrum conducts marketing communications for Biogen Idec’s AVONEX®—the leading MS therapy—to promote the importance of early and sustained treatment.

Spectrum developed a patient education program featuring David Lander, an MS patient and former star of the television program “Laverne and Shirley,“ which continues to flourish. Local market events have reached more than 600 journalists, with an audience of more than 95 million. Recent national media placements include guest appearances on “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” “The Jim Rome Show,” ESPN2’s “Cold Pizza” and ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” Lander’s popularity as a speaker has kept AVONEX prominent with its priority audiences.

Since Spectrum launched this program, Lander has spoken to nearly 25,000 patients and caregivers at more than 100 patient programs.
