Spectrum Continues Year of Growth with Addition of Michael Cover and Kevin Walsh Leading Health and Public Affairs Agency Adds Two Industry Veterans to Growing D.C. Headquarters

WASHINGTON, DC (Sept. 9, 2009) - Building on a year of growth, Spectrum has made two recent strategic hires with the additions of Michael Cover as Senior Vice President and Practice Leader for Disease Management and Kevin Walsh as Vice President of Digital Strategy. Cover and Walsh join Spectrum's Washington headquarters, the largest health communications office in the Nation's capital.

"With the country's spotlight focused on the health care industry, Michael and Kevin join our team at an opportune time to help our clients maneuver through this challenging landscape," said Katherine Maynard, Spectrum COO. "Our expertise is bolstered by their insights and abilities to understand the disease management and digital sectors - two integral practice areas."

In addition to his role as Senior Vice President, Cover will serve in the newly created position of Practice Leader for Disease Management. In this capacity, he will identify, build and implement strategic communications platforms focused on the spread and containment of diseases. Prior to joining Spectrum, Cover served as Senior Vice President at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, where he led several large federal contracts for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Gill Foundation, among others.

As Vice President of Digital Strategy, Walsh will utilize his ten years of experience in the communications and online communities to guide the development of digital strategies, integrating social media, multi-media, mobility and other emerging technologies into client programs. In his prior role, Walsh was the Director for Online Strategy at LensWorld.com where he developed and executed an online strategy that achieved a 4,000 percent increase in sales.

The arrival of Cover and Walsh supplement an already robust year for Spectrum, including the opening of a New York office, the rebranding of the firm, and the launch of the Spectrum Health Value StudyTM (www.healthvaluestudy.com), proprietary research that explores how Americans value health when they consider spending their own money.
