Despite women comprising 51% of the U.S. population, they only represent 40% of clinical trial participants for diseases affecting them most. Women's health concerns are often dismissed by healthcare providers, leading to a significant knowledge gap. This disparity was a focal point at MM+M’s Women of Distinction event, where a group of influential female leaders gathered to discuss strategies to improve female representation in medical research, enhance healthcare communication and mentor the next generation of women leaders.
Among the panelists was our own Maia Arnold, SVP of Scientific Strategy and a 2024 Women to Watch honoree, who contributed valuable insights on several key topics.
The panelists emphasized the need for better communication between women and healthcare providers, highlighting the importance of education at all levels, including community clinics. Arnold stressed that improving these communications can empower and educate women more effectively. "Better communication with doctors at all levels, including those in community clinics, will help empower and educate more women as well," Arnold noted.
This event underscored the urgent need to address disparities in women's health through better representation, communication,
and tailored marketing approaches, and Spectrum was honored to be part of this important conversation Read the full conversation here.
